Passage
A passage is the paragraph-sized chunk an AI extracts from a document and uses as evidence, rather than the whole page.
A paragraph therefore has to make sense on its own, without the text around it. One that opens with "as mentioned above" or "this means" loses its meaning the moment it is separated.
